Having reviewed the division of parishes
throughout the Archdiocese in consultation with all Pastors and other interested
parties, and having listened to the observations of the Council of Priests, Holy
Spirit – Ducha Swietego Mission, previously a mission for the care of souls of
the Polish faithful of the Archdiocese, has now been established as an official
territorial parish.
I HEREBY DECREE that Holy Spirit –
Ducha Swietego Mission as of this day will be known as Holy Spirit
Parish.

SATURDAY - SEPTEMBER 22
(the Holy Eucharist is celebrated in the St. Bernadette Catholic Elementary School Gym)
5:05 PM - Fr. Zygmunt Ostrowski, S.Chr. started the celebration of the first Holy Eucharist in the parish history with song: "COME HOLY SPIRIT". 121 people came to that Mass. Many came with their children. After all 50 Parish Census Forms has been taken along with 43 sets of the budget envelopes.
SUNDAY - SEPTEMBER 23
9:30 AM - Fr. Zygmunt celebrated Mass with 241 people. Many young parents with their children. Before Mass two ushers distributed Parish Census Forms with 75 sets of budget envelopes. After Mass 23 Forms has been filled out and returned. During the Mass a seminarian read two readings. It was very joyful celebration. Many came to Fr. Zygmunt and expressed their willingness to help.
11:30 AM - Fr. Zygmunt started to celebrate Mass for Polish people. 245 came to participate. After his greeting he was welcomed by Elzbieta Stolarz, a secretary and a chairwoman of the Polish Catholic Mission (PCM) in Barrie. PCM became a part of the Holy Spirit Parish.
October 14 - St. Therese relics in Barrie. From 2 pm - 9 pm in St. Mary's Chruch.
October 10-23 - Fr. Zygmunt will lead a pilgrimage to Marian Shrine in Europe. Fr. Stan Hajkowski, S.Chr. is celebrating Masses during this time.
October 28 - Mass offered for the married couples and renewal of the vows.
November 2-10 - Novena Masses for Deceased.
November 4 - First meeting with parents of children that will be prepared for the Sacraments: Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation.
November 7 - Meeting with the Finance Committee.
November 8 - Formation Meeting with Ushers.
November 13 - Formation meeting with the leaders of Children's Liturgy.
November14 - Formation meeting with Lectors.
November 15 - Formation meeting with Eucharistic Ministers.
November 19 - Meeting (after 11:30 Mass) with Polish lectors and ushers.
November 20 - Meeting with the choir volunteers.

December 8 - First Parish Christmas Bazaar from 10am till 2 pm with the visit of St. Nicholas organized by Ad-Hoc Committee chaired by Jeanne Rossi.

January 26 - at 10 a.m. fr. Zygmunt Ostrowski, Schr, blessed the Habitat Housing for families with low income. Members of Parlament and City Mayor Jim Perri were present in this celebration.
February 12 - During Lent, exciting 6 weeks of 1 hour video program every Tuesday after 7:30 p.m. Mass in the rectory.

February 17 - MARY KELLY ABOUT SHARE LIFE
Mary, Stewardship & Development Manager, from Catholic Pastoral Centre will
bring a message about Share Life.
This year’s theme asks each of us to be a joyful giver! To give not only of
our time, treasure and our talents, but to share all of the gifts that God has
given us. We are here only for a short time as God’s caretakers, trustees and
managers and He invites us to share sacrificially with those in need. A gift to
ShareLife enables us to be a light of hope for those less fortunate, allowing us
to say “I am privileged to share God’s gifts with you.”
March 10 - Official ceremony during the Mass of accepting the candidates for altar servers. Candidates received the red cassocks.
March 17 - special insert in a parish bulletin about the Sacrament of Penance.
March 22 - 7 p.m. Sacrament of Penance before Easter is celebrated in school gym. Four priests served about 120 parishioners.

- 9:30 a.m. Elzbieta Stolarz - Parish Coordinator for World Youth Day - invited
parishioners to participate in this historical event by being hosts, pilgrims or
volunteers.

presented by Dechnik family (Angela, Danuta, Gabriela, Lidia, Joanna, Jerzy),
Pawel Solarz, Elzbieta & Janusz Stolarz.

school gym.
- 7 p.m. - Fr. Zygmunt is celebrating the Liturgy in Polish.

- 8:30 p.m. - Fr. Zygmunt is presiding over the Easter Vigil Liturgy (in English
& Polish). Fr. Stanislaw Hajkowski from Sterling Heights, Michigan is the
homilist.
March 31 - Easter Sunday
- 9:30 a.m. Fr. Stanislaw celebrates the Liturgy. He is also the homilist.
- 11:30 a.m. Fr. Zygmunt celebrates the Liturgy, but Fr. Stanislaw is the
homilist.
April 6/7 - meeting for parents of children preparing for sacraments
April 7 - 3 p.m. - Polish Holy Rosary Society & Polish Alliance of Canada celebrates the annual traditional Easter Dinner called "Swiecone" in a Polish Hall on Hwy 90. 120 people participate the dinner and Easter in songs and poems.
April 14 - 1 p.m. Fr. Zygmunt celebrates Mass on a day of Grand Opening of St. Joan of Arc High School. After Mass there is a special ceremony with prayer (Fr. Zygmunt), presentations by various dignitaries (local, provincial, federal government) and cutting the ribbon. Fr. Zygmunt blessed the whole school earlier after Mass.
April 21 - all Masses at ST. NICHOLAS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

April 28 - 2 p.m. Grand Opening of St.
Bernadette's Elementary School with bishop Anthony Meagher (blessing of the
school), Fr. Zygmunt Ostrowski, SChr (opening prayer), Knight's of Columbus and
school and government representatives.
May 1 - 9 a.m. Blessing of St. Joseph statue, placed in a chapel (rectory) renovated by the artist Malgorzata Kajda from Kitchener.
May 3 - 9 a.m. Blessing of St. Mary's statue, placed in a chapel next to St. Joseph statue (renovated by the same artist).
May 14 - Day of Retreat for candidates for confirmation with the celebration of the Sacrament of the Reconciliation.
May 19 - 3 p.m.
Fr. Zygmunt Ostrowski, SChr administered first historic Sacrament of
Confirmation in the Parish. 36 young parishioners received that Sacrament at St.
John's Vianney Church. He thanks Mr. Ab. Falconi and Mr. Edmond Dixon for
preparing them.
May 10-18 Novena Masses for Mothers
Friday at 9:00 am in the rectory and it will be continued till May 18,
2002.
May 24 - 6 p.m. Sacrament of Penance for 73 children before I Communion at St. John's Church.
May 26 - 3 p.m. - Sacrament of Eucharist (I Communion). First historic group fully participate in the Mass during which they receive Jesus in a Holy Eucharist (First Communion) at St. John's church.
June 10-18 - Fr. Zygmunt Ostrowski, SChr started the novena for living and deceased Fathers. The list of Fathers listed in a parish bulletin.
June 14 - 6-10 p.m. - WYD Cross in Angus - Borden sponsored by the Parishes of Simcoe County & CFB Borden Chaplaincy. Taize Prayer, Candle Light Service and BBQ.
June 23 - Certificates & Video from I Communion and Confirmation.

2 - 9 a.m ANNUAL PILGRIMAGE OF ALTAR SERVERS
This coming Tuesday our parish altar servers
will make their annual pilgrimage to a Shrine of Canadians Martyrs in Midland,
to celebrate Mass, learn about the Shrine and to enjoy afterwards picnic. We
invite our parishioners to come with us to pray and enjoy pilgrimage.
July 18 - WYD Cross visit our Holy Spirit Parish Property at 622 Essa Road at 11:50 a.m. Fr. Zygmunt prayed the Rosary in english and polish languages. Walking Pilgrim with the WYD Cross started from St. Mary's Cementary to Centennial Park. The program includes Taize Prayer & BBQ at Lake Simcoe.
July 22 - Polish pilgrims from Katowice stayed overnight. Next day they visited Sanctuary of Canadian Martyrs in Midland.

July 28 - His Holiness John Paul II blessed plaque for Holy Spirit Church in Barrie, Ontario.
August 4 - Two guests from Poland Fr. Mieczyslaw Piotrowski, SChr from Poznan and Fr. Jozef Kubicki, SChr from Warsaw.
August 7 - Polish group organized meal for the XX Walking Pilgrimige do Midland
September 7 - Thanksgiving Mass for WYD Volunteers. Fr. Zygmunt give out special certificates to the participantes.

October 15-16 Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 6 p.m. till 6 p.m. next day. Adoration was offered as a thanksgiving for John Paul II 24 years of His pontificate.
October 26 - 4 p.m. Blessing of the future Parish land by bishop Richard Greco, D.D., Fr. Andrew Maslejak, SChr, Fr. Zygmunt Ostrowski, SChr. Program enriched with prayers and songs in English and Polish language.

December 14 -
5 p.m. youth group performance
"Ave" from Burlington at St. Bernadette school gym. During the
Saturday Mass "Ave" enlightened the liturgy by singing. After Mass a
wonderful concert was performed in English and Polish.
December 24 - before Mass at 10:00 p.m. Fr. Stanislaw Hajkowski, SChr,
blessed the new Marian chasuble and two additional stoles (made by Malgorzata
Kajda from Studio Rubin) donated by the Polish
Rosary Society. (see

December 29 - Annual Renewal of the marriage vows, family vows and parish family vows. Some husbands remembered to bring flowers and presented them to their wife's.

January 5 - after 9:30 a.m. Mass Fr. Zygmunt gathered all children around the alter in front of the Nativity Scene and explained story and meaning of Epiphany Feast.
January 10 - Adoration Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament (in the chapel) from 9:45 a.m. till 12:00 noon. We ask Jesus to send us the Holy Spirit to make this year a plan for the Sanctuary of the Holy Spirit.

a walking pilgrimage to Midland. From this day, every other week on Tuesdays,
young Parishioners meet to pray and diologe.

October 3- Life Chain from 2-3 p.m. at Cundles & Bayfield. It is an
annual public silent witness throughout North America that all life is precious
and should be protected by the law and legislators. Last year over 1000 cities
held Life Chain events. There are over 100,000 abortions annually in Canada!
October 3 - a meeting for the parents and

October 5 - 'LOGOS' youth group meeting
October 13 - Fr. Zygmunt is moving to the new 'rectory' at 22 Wildflower Court, located next to St. Joan of Arc H.S. where he celebrates Masses on Saturdays and Sundays. The new rectory has a walk-out basement enough to accommodate 100 people in a chapel and meeting room and restroom. This project will be developed by our parishioner volunteers, which will be coordinated by Józef Kaźmierczak.

November 1 - tonight - on the feast of All Saints the first Mass is celebrated at 7 p.m. In a beautiful chapel (in a basement). Wojciech Lassak brought - just before Mass - one hundred used chairs received from St. John Vianney parish. These chair need to be renovated.
November 8 - Parish Council meeting at 8 p.m.
November 9 - YTOL meeting. Melanii Jaszczur - Animator/Coordinator; Guardian - Elizabeth Stolarz.
November 14 - Elżbieta Stolarz, our parish secretary and chairman of Holy Rosary Society (Polish group), won a first place during International Festival Religious Songs in John Paul II Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, in a soloist category. We congratulate her and wish her further success in proclamation of God's Word.
November 21 - Annual Candidates and Altar
Servers Sunday: we accepted six new candidates and all altar servers
we welcomed our new candidates and altar servers in our community.

February 18 - All day Adoration of Blessed Sacrament started on Friday from 10:00 a.m. till 7 p.m. Elizabeth Stolarz agreed to be a coordinator of the Adoration.
February 27 - St. Nicholas Catholic School Sunday. It is the oldest Catholic School in Holy Spirit Parish area since 1996. It is the first Catholic School official visit on Sunday in the history of the Holy Spirit Parish.

June 2 - Fr. Jan Otłowski SChr died in Smoky Mountain, Alberta. He was born May 15, 1918 and was the first our priest who came to North America (September 1957) in Canada on December 8, 1957 he became the pastor in Calgary (till 1968). During his time a small parish community build the church. Since 1994 he served as a chaplain in the sister's convent. Let us remember this faithful servant of God in our prayers.

September 7 - Fr. Zygmunt Musielski OMI died in Toronto. He was the first pastor of Holy Spirit Mission. Let us remember him in our prayer.

Augustyna, wyświęcony w 1988 r. Służył u Św. Moniki w Toronto, służył jako kapelan dla głuchoniemych w Toronto, Św. Jana w Newmarket, Św. Maryii Gwiazdy Morza w Mississauga oraz Św. Teresa w Courtice. Prowadził pielgrzymki do Izraela, Fatimy, Lourdes i Rzymu. Jest rozradowany, że może być w Parafii Ducha Świętego w Barrie. This weekend we welcome Father Peter Conlin who will be assisting at the 5:00
Mass while Father Keith is at a wedding. Father Peter will help at Holy Spirit
Parish from time to time.
July 9 - We welcomed Fr. Jan Szkodziński OMI who is presiding at the 12:00 Mass. Father Jan is an Oblate Mary Immaculate. The Oblates have agreed to serve the 12:00 Polish Mass.
August 9 - III WALKING PILGRIMAGE from
Barrie to Midland. Both Fr. Keith and Bishop Hundt joined the walkers on
Wednesday 9th. We had 26 walkers from our Parish (2 English speaking and 24
Polish speaking).
Holy Spirit Parish, as for the last 10 year, prepares a supper for
pilgrims. This years overnight stay at Laurie and Bill French farm.

who took the time this Easter 2007 to truly live and express Faith. And yet it
is not only in one season but ALL YEAR EVERY DAY thank you beautifully express
this gift.
A special thanks to the parishioners including the youth who helped to decorate
the church for Holy Week and Easter. It was beautiful! The decorations stayed
all week so that the students on lunch could see again and again the reality of
our Faith. An inspiration!
Thank you also to the parishioners who donated towards the flowers. I
have been a priest for 19 years and never experienced such a Holy week Faith -

August 22 - Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary. At 8:30 p.m. Marian Candlelit Procession on church property. Fr. Keith prepared prayers and reading for this special night. With songs on our lips we did process around our Holy Land for future church. 1 m. grass was not an issue for parishioners filled with fire of Love to Mary and Her Son Jesus Christ.

September 15 - Parent-Tot Group Meetings resumes on Tuesday. Maria Malpica - our new Parent-Tot group coordinator gather in a chapel to sing and pray with our children.
