PARISH HISTORY 2001 2002

Having reviewed the division of parishes throughout the Archdiocese in consultation with all Pastors and other interested parties, and having listened to the observations of the Council of Priests, Holy Spirit – Ducha Swietego Mission, previously a mission for the care of souls of the Polish faithful of the Archdiocese, has now been established as an official territorial parish.

I HEREBY DECREE that Holy Spirit – Ducha Swietego Mission as of this day will be known as Holy Spirit Parish.

Having reviewed the division of parishes throughout the Archdiocese in consultation with all Pastors and other interested parties, and having listened to the observations of the Council of Priests.

I HEREBY ESTABLISH the following circumscription to the boundary of Holy Spirit Parish, Barrie:

5:05 PM - Fr. Zygmunt Ostrowski, S.Chr. started the celebration of the first Holy Eucharist in the parish history with song: "COME HOLY SPIRIT". 121 people came to that Mass. Many came with their children. After all 50 Parish Census Forms has been taken along with 43 sets of the budget envelopes.

9:30 AM - Fr. Zygmunt celebrated Mass with 241 people. Many young parents with their children. Before Mass two ushers distributed Parish Census Forms with 75 sets of budget envelopes. After Mass 23 Forms has been filled out and returned. During the Mass a seminarian read two readings. It was very joyful celebration. Many came to Fr. Zygmunt and expressed their willingness to help.

11:30 AM - Fr. Zygmunt started to celebrate Mass for Polish people. 245 came to participate. After his greeting he was welcomed by Elzbieta Stolarz, a secretary and a chairwoman of the Polish Catholic Mission (PCM) in Barrie. PCM became a part of the Holy Spirit Parish.

October 14 - St. Therese relics in Barrie. From 2 pm - 9 pm in St. Mary's Chruch.

October 10-23 - Fr. Zygmunt will lead a pilgrimage to Marian Shrine in Europe. Fr. Stan Hajkowski, S.Chr. is celebrating Masses during this time.

November 4 - First meeting with parents of children that will be prepared for the Sacraments: Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation.

November 25 - Bishop Anthony Meagher comes to celebrate Holy Mass at 9:30 and 11:30 (Polish Mass) and install Fr. Zygmunt Ostrowski, S.Chr. as the first pastor of Holy Spirit Parish.
The number of families - 156, that sign up as a members of our Holy Spirit Parish since 22 September 2001.

November 29 - Meeting with the Polish catechists: Malgorzata Grzywna i Elzbieta Stolarz.

December 2 - Enrollment Mass for the children and their mentors who will participate in Parish preparation for the Sacraments: Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation in the year 2002.

December 8 - First Parish Christmas Bazaar from 10am till 2 pm with the visit of St. Nicholas organized by Ad-Hoc Committee chaired by Jeanne Rossi.

January 26 - at 10 a.m. fr. Zygmunt Ostrowski, Schr, blessed the Habitat Housing for families with low income. Members of Parlament and City Mayor Jim Perri were present in this celebration.

February 12 - During Lent, exciting 6 weeks of 1 hour video program every Tuesday after 7:30 p.m. Mass in the rectory.

February 17 - MARY KELLY ABOUT SHARE LIFE
Mary, Stewardship & Development Manager, from Catholic Pastoral Centre will bring a message about Share Life.
This year’s theme asks each of us to be a joyful giver! To give not only of our time, treasure and our talents, but to share all of the gifts that God has given us. We are here only for a short time as God’s caretakers, trustees and managers and He invites us to share sacrificially with those in need. A gift to ShareLife enables us to be a light of hope for those less fortunate, allowing us to say “I am privileged to share God’s gifts with you.”

March 10 - Official ceremony during the Mass of accepting the candidates for altar servers. Candidates received the red cassocks.

March 17 - special insert in a parish bulletin about the Sacrament of Penance.

March 22 - 7 p.m. Sacrament of Penance before Easter is celebrated in school gym. Four priests served about 120 parishioners.

March 24 - PALM / PASSION SUNDAY
- 9:30 a.m. Elzbieta Stolarz - Parish Coordinator for World Youth Day - invited parishioners to participate in this historical event by being hosts, pilgrims or volunteers.
- 11:30 a.m. after Mass a special program in Polish "Paschal Mystery" presented by Dechnik family (Angela, Danuta, Gabriela, Lidia, Joanna, Jerzy), Pawel Solarz, Elzbieta & Janusz Stolarz.

March 28 - Holy Thursday
Bishop Anthony Meagher, auxiliary bishop of Toronto, is presiding over the concelebrated the Lord's Supper Mass.

March 29 - Holy Friday
- 3 p.m. - Fr. Zygmunt is celebrating the Lord's Passion (in English) in the school gym.
- 7 p.m. - Fr. Zygmunt is celebrating the Liturgy in Polish.

March 30 - Holy Saturday
- 11 a.m. blessing of the Easter Food Basket
- 8:30 p.m. - Fr. Zygmunt is presiding over the Easter Vigil Liturgy (in English & Polish). Fr. Stanislaw Hajkowski from Sterling Heights, Michigan is the homilist.

March 31 - Easter Sunday
- 9:30 a.m. Fr. Stanislaw celebrates the Liturgy. He is also the homilist.
- 11:30 a.m. Fr. Zygmunt celebrates the Liturgy, but Fr. Stanislaw is the homilist.

April 7 - 3 p.m. - Polish Holy Rosary Society & Polish Alliance of Canada celebrates the annual traditional Easter Dinner called "Swiecone" in a Polish Hall on Hwy 90. 120 people participate the dinner and Easter in songs and poems.

April 14 - 1 p.m. Fr. Zygmunt celebrates Mass on a day of Grand Opening of St. Joan of Arc High School. After Mass there is a special ceremony with prayer (Fr. Zygmunt), presentations by various dignitaries (local, provincial, federal government) and cutting the ribbon. Fr. Zygmunt blessed the whole school earlier after Mass.

April 21 - all Masses at ST. NICHOLAS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (opening of St. Bernadette's School)

April 28 - 2 p.m. Grand Opening of St. Bernadette's Elementary School with bishop Anthony Meagher (blessing of the school), Fr. Zygmunt Ostrowski, SChr (opening prayer), Knight's of Columbus and school and government representatives.

May 1 - 9 a.m. Blessing of St. Joseph statue, placed in a chapel (rectory) renovated by the artist Malgorzata Kajda from Kitchener.

May 3 - 9 a.m. Blessing of St. Mary's statue, placed in a chapel next to St. Joseph statue (renovated by the same artist).

May 14 - Day of Retreat for candidates for confirmation with the celebration of the Sacrament of the Reconciliation.

May 19 - 3 p.m. Fr. Zygmunt Ostrowski, SChr administered first historic Sacrament of Confirmation in the Parish. 36 young parishioners received that Sacrament at St. John's Vianney Church. He thanks Mr. Ab. Falconi and Mr. Edmond Dixon for preparing them.

May 10-18 Novena Masses for Mothers
Friday at 9:00 am in the rectory and it will be continued till May 18, 2002.

May 24 - 6 p.m. Sacrament of Penance for 73 children before I Communion at St. John's Church.

May 26 - 3 p.m. - Sacrament of Eucharist (I Communion). First historic group fully participate in the Mass during which they receive Jesus in a Holy Eucharist (First Communion) at St. John's church.

June 10-18 - Fr. Zygmunt Ostrowski, SChr started the novena for living and deceased Fathers. The list of Fathers listed in a parish bulletin.

June 14 - 6-10 p.m. - WYD Cross in Angus - Borden sponsored by the Parishes of Simcoe County & CFB Borden Chaplaincy. Taize Prayer, Candle Light Service and BBQ.

July 2 - 9 a.m ANNUAL PILGRIMAGE OF ALTAR SERVERS
This coming Tuesday our parish altar servers will make their annual pilgrimage to a Shrine of Canadians Martyrs in Midland, to celebrate Mass, learn about the Shrine and to enjoy afterwards picnic. We invite our parishioners to come with us to pray and enjoy pilgrimage.

July 18 - WYD Cross visit our Holy Spirit Parish Property at 622 Essa Road at 11:50 a.m. Fr. Zygmunt prayed the Rosary in english and polish languages. Walking Pilgrim with the WYD Cross started from St. Mary's Cementary to Centennial Park. The program includes Taize Prayer & BBQ at Lake Simcoe.

July 22 - Polish pilgrims from Katowice stayed overnight. Next day they visited Sanctuary of Canadian Martyrs in Midland.

July 28 - His Holiness John Paul II blessed plaque for Holy Spirit Church in Barrie, Ontario.

August 4 - Two guests from Poland Fr. Mieczyslaw Piotrowski, SChr from Poznan and Fr. Jozef Kubicki, SChr from Warsaw.

August 7 - Polish group organized meal for the XX Walking Pilgrimige do Midland

September 7 - Thanksgiving Mass for WYD Volunteers. Fr. Zygmunt give out special certificates to the participantes.

September 10 - 7:40 p.m. Fr. Zygmunt called first Parish Coordinator's meeting.

September 15-16 - Special Blessing for the children for the new school year.

September 29 - Parish Ministry Weekend. Parish coordinators were available after each Mass to give more information about specific liturgical ministry in our Parish. Volunteer form were available.

October 5/6 - Meeting with Parents of the children, who are planning to participate in the Immediate Parish Sacramental Preparation.

October 15-16 Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 6 p.m. till 6 p.m. next day. Adoration was offered as a thanksgiving for John Paul II 24 years of His pontificate.

October 26 - 4 p.m. Blessing of the future Parish land by bishop Richard Greco, D.D., Fr. Andrew Maslejak, SChr, Fr. Zygmunt Ostrowski, SChr. Program enriched with prayers and songs in English and Polish language.

October 26 - 5 p.m. Mass celebrated by bishop Richard Greco, Fr. Adnrew Maslejak, Fr. Zygmunt Ostrowski.

October 27 - 3:30 p.m. - St. Hedwig's Parish Golden Jubilee. Golden Jubilee Banquet at General Wladyslaw Sikorski Polish Veterans' Centre of St. Hedwig's Parish in Oshawa. Fr. Zygmunt Ostrowski, SChr was invited for the celebration

November 16 - Training sessions at the rectory for lectors, ushers and Eucharistic Ministers.

November 23 - 10 a.m. Training session for members of Parish Finance Council and Fund Raising Committee with Mary Kelly and Trena Finnegan from the office of Archdiocese of Toronto.

November 23, 24 - Altar servers received surplices during Mass on Saturday and Sunday. New candidates are welcomed.

December 14 - 5 p.m. youth group performance "Ave" from Burlington at St. Bernadette school gym. During the Saturday Mass "Ave" enlightened the liturgy by singing. After Mass a wonderful concert was performed in English and Polish.

December 24 - before Mass at 10:00 p.m. Fr. Stanislaw Hajkowski, SChr, blessed the new Marian chasuble and two additional stoles (made by Malgorzata Kajda from Studio Rubin) donated by the Polish Rosary Society. (see Parish History in Pictures)

December 29 - Annual Renewal of the marriage vows, family vows and parish family vows. Some husbands remembered to bring flowers and presented them to their wife's.

January 5 - after 9:30 a.m. Mass Fr. Zygmunt gathered all children around the alter in front of the Nativity Scene and explained story and meaning of Epiphany Feast.

January 10 - Adoration Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament (in the chapel) from 9:45 a.m. till 12:00 noon. We ask Jesus to send us the Holy Spirit to make this year a plan for the Sanctuary of the Holy Spirit.

March 6 - 19:45 2nd Polish Committee meeting. Elizabeth Stolarz passed on the responsibilities to the new formed Polish Committee that would be responsible for continuation of the Polish Traditions in our Parish (Easter Dinner, Christmas Vigil, Midland Pilgrimages).

March 11 - 7:45 p.m. Adult Religious Education Program during Lent. Fr. Corapi video series - The Life and Mission of Christ.

March 23 - Mary Kelly from the office of Archdiocese of Toronto was giving a speech about Stewardship in our Parish Community.

March 30 - Laurie Van Den Hurk was speaking about ShareLife and Catholic Family Services in Barrie.

April 9 - 7 p.m. - Holy Family Rosary Society meeting with conference: "Who is God in Rosary Mysteries" by Fr. Zygmunt Ostrowski, SChr in a chapel. After first meeting with distribution of Annual Plan of Prayer for each family.

April 13 - Draw for Easter Baskets and Queen for a day tickets on sale. Proceeds go to Church Building Fund.

April 26,27 - after Mass, meeting for parents of children preparing for the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation.

October 26 - Holy Spirit Council of Knights of Columbus has been established in July 29, 2003. After 9:30 Mass the new elected officers has been installed.

December 6 - children from Holy Rosary Society gathered in a rectory for their meeting in Advent, which included spiritual part (Rosary Prayer as a way to be holy person, explanation about unholy Halloween) and 'social hour' (St. Nicholas gifts and Pizza Party).

December 14 - Knights of Columbus organized Children's Christmas Party including visit of (true) St. Nicholas dressed as a bishop - from 2-4 p.m. 40 children participated.

February 14 - Annual Valentine Dinner Dance

February 22 - Altar Servers and their families had horse rides at 4622 Hwy 90.

April 17 - 2004 LIFT JESUS HIGHER - RALLY. The day begins with the Rosary and ends with the Holy Eucharist. Saturday, April 17, 2004 at Metro Toronto Convention Centre - North Building.

June 20 - Holy Spirit Annual Parish Picnic in a Polish Hall on Hwy 90 west of Road 27.

Every Friday Adoration of Jesus in Blessed Sacrament is changed for First Friday's only. Since January 2003 the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament was done every Friday till June 2004.

AUGUST 2004

August 11- First Walking Pilgrimage from Barrie to Midland. Organized by Fr. Zygmunt and Elizabeth Stolarz

August 15- Polish Annual Mass in Midland

August 17- Youth meeting with Fr. Williams Slatter, who was a speaker on a walking pilgrimage to Midland. From this day, every other week on Tuesdays, young Parishioners meet to pray and diologe.

OCTOBER 2004

October 3- Life Chain from 2-3 p.m. at Cundles & Bayfield. It is an annual public silent witness throughout North America that all life is precious and should be protected by the law and legislators. Last year over 1000 cities held Life Chain events. There are over 100,000 abortions annually in Canada!

October 3 - a meeting for the parents and children "Parish Sacramental Preparation"

October 5 - 'LOGOS' youth group meeting

October 13 - Fr. Zygmunt is moving to the new 'rectory' at 22 Wildflower Court, located next to St. Joan of Arc H.S. where he celebrates Masses on Saturdays and Sundays. The new rectory has a walk-out basement enough to accommodate 100 people in a chapel and meeting room and restroom. This project will be developed by our parishioner volunteers, which will be coordinated by Józef Kaźmierczak.

November 1 - tonight - on the feast of All Saints the first Mass is celebrated at 7 p.m. In a beautiful chapel (in a basement). Wojciech Lassak brought - just before Mass - one hundred used chairs received from St. John Vianney parish. These chair need to be renovated.

November 9 - YTOL meeting. Melanii Jaszczur - Animator/Coordinator; Guardian - Elizabeth Stolarz.

November 14 - Elżbieta Stolarz, our parish secretary and chairman of Holy Rosary Society (Polish group), won a first place during International Festival Religious Songs in John Paul II Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, in a soloist category. We congratulate her and wish her further success in proclamation of God's Word.

November 21 - Annual Candidates and Altar Servers Sunday: we accepted six new candidates and all altar servers
we welcomed our new candidates and altar servers in our community.

January 16 - at 9:45 at St. Joan of Arc H. S. meeting for parents and children to help in preparation for Confession.

February 5 - 2nd Annual Valentine's dinner Dance. With your help the Second Annual Valentine Dinner Dance came together beautifully. Our parish community would like to thank you for your generous contribution to this event. We have enjoyed a lovely and romantic evening. Our profits for the Building Fund are $5,046.40. Thank you and God Bless.

February 18 - All day Adoration of Blessed Sacrament started on Friday from 10:00 a.m. till 7 p.m. Elizabeth Stolarz agreed to be a coordinator of the Adoration.

February 27 - St. Nicholas Catholic School Sunday. It is the oldest Catholic School in Holy Spirit Parish area since 1996. It is the first Catholic School official visit on Sunday in the history of the Holy Spirit Parish.

March 13 - 18 - London - youth week of prayer sponsored by YTOL - Youth Team of Our Lady.

April 8 - in loving memory of John Paul II at 7 p.m. at St. Joan of Arc school with leader's parish group participation. Youth group prepared program with songs and John Paul II words to the youth.

April 19 - Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger was elected as Supreme Pontiff and has chosen the name BENEDICT XVI

April 24 - "Fashion show" - more then 400 people came to enjoy our first Fashion Show. About 60 teachers, youth and adults participated. Amount of $5,964.40 raised for the building fund. thank you and God Bless!

May 29 - Eucharistic Procession to four altars in this year of the Eucharist at 1:15 p.m.

June 2 - Fr. Jan Otłowski SChr died in Smoky Mountain, Alberta. He was born May 15, 1918 and was the first our priest who came to North America (September 1957) in Canada on December 8, 1957 he became the pastor in Calgary (till 1968). During his time a small parish community build the church. Since 1994 he served as a chaplain in the sister's convent. Let us remember this faithful servant of God in our prayers.

August 10-13 - 2nd Walking Pilgrimage from Barrie to Canadian Martyr's Shrine in Midland. With 23 participants, which two where from English speaking group, we joined the XXIII Mississauga Walking Pilgrimage in Utopia, where our Parish prepared support for about 500 participants.

September 7 - Fr. Zygmunt Musielski OMI died in Toronto. He was the first pastor of Holy Spirit Mission. Let us remember him in our prayer.

September 18 - Annual rosary Sunday in Midland. Mass at 12:30 p.m. outdoors at the Polish Altar. At 2 p.m. procession of the Blessed Sacrament followed by rosary and Benediction.

September 23 - employees of the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board journey together to Martyrs Shrine in Midland.

September 24 - YTOL prayer meeting, from 10 a.m. till 12 p.m. Animator - Lidia Dechnik

September 24 - every Saturday Devotion to Our Lady of PERPETUAL HELP after 9 a.m. Mass.

September 24/25 - coffee after Mass. The baking was sold to raise money for the Building Fund.

October 2 - from 2-3 p.m. LIFE CHAIN 2005. Silent witness to the Truth that abortion is a violent destruction of human life.

October 8/9 - The Knights of Columbus, Holy Spirit Council re-stock the shelves of the Barrie Food Bank by collecting non-perishable items.

October 28 - from 7 p.m. till 10 p.m. Prayer Night - Thanksgiving for the "Year of the Eucharist". Mass at 11 p.m.

October 30 - at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc H.S. parents and candidates meeting for I Communion Preparation.

November 6 - 9:30 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc H.S. parents and candidates meeting for Confirmation Preparation.

November 12 - CHRISTMAS BAZAAR at St. Joan of Arc H.S. between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

November 27 - The Knights of Columbus are holding their annual Christmas party for children ages 0-10 at St. Catherine of Siena. Admission is free.

December 3/4 - Enrolment Mass for candidates to the Eucharist and Confirmation Sacrament.

December 24 - Holy Spirit First Christmas Concerts performed by Shannon Barks with family, Youth Team of Our Lady - youth group, Lidia Dechnik, Iwona Jaszczur with Debbie Pool, Elizabeth Stolarz and Paweł Solarz.

February 18 - 3rd Annual Valentine Dinner and Dance help at the Army Nave Club.

March 11-12 - YOUTH RALLY Featuring The Mustard Seeds Youth Band from Hanover. Thank you for awesome music and presentation. THANK YOU NOTE - A special thank you to Jacqueline Robinson and all who helped to make this past weekend with "Mustard Seed" such an outstanding experience. All the people who volunteered their time to cook for and feed "Mustard Seed", to welcome visitors, to provide security, etc. are to be congratulated. Their hard work and dedication to the group and to the youth of our Parish is greatly appreciated. Fr. Henry

April 1 - Retreat for the youth that preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Special thanks to Fr. Bill Comerford our Youth Team of Our Lady - YTOL group from Barrie, Scarborough, Ottawa, Mississauga, Windsor, Guelph, Kitchener and Dechnik family for the preparation. The retreat took place at Polish Hall ZPwK in Barrie from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

April 2 - Thanksgiving Mass for John Paul II. Mass was celebrated with the Parish Youth that preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation and Youth Team of Our Lady from Barrie, Scarborough, Mississauga, Ottawa, Guelph, Kitchener, Windsor.

April 30 - Confirmation We would like to thank Youth Team of Our Lady (YTOL) and Dechnik family for assisting in preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Thank you Cioncka and Stolarz family for decorating the chapel.

MAY 2006
May 7 - 1st Communion. We would like to thank Linda Carmichael and Louise Marley for their time and dedication to prepare children for I Communion. Thank you for the music prepared with children by Shannon Barks.

May 13 - 2nd Annual Fashion Show - at St. Joan of Arc at 7 p.m. thank you to all that helped organizing the Fashion Show, especially the Fundraising committee. Thank you and God Bless!

May 27 - INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN'S DAY - organized by Polish School in Barrie at Springwater Park.

June 3 - YTOL voting accepted by Fr. Henry. Ewelina Jaszczur - animator and Ewelina Krzyżanowska - sub-animator. We would like to thank Lidia Dechnik for being an animator for a year and half.

June 10 - 1st Altar Servers Appreciation Day - from 10 a.m. till 12 noon at Putting Edge. Day sponsored by Holy Spirit Parish and the Knights of Columbus #13390.

June 11 - YTOL re-voting. Ewelina Krzyżanowska - animator and Dominika Stolarz sub-animator.

June 28 - We would like to thank Fr. Henryk Kociołek SChr, for his dedication to serve God and His people. May God continue to Bless You! You've been with Holy Spirit since September 1, 2005 till June 18th, 2006. This was the time of Grace for all Parishioners.

Przeprowadził się wraz z rodzicami, braćmi (Paul, Barry) i siostrą Anną do Mississauga w 1963 r. Tak jak Barrie, ks. Keith zauważył duży wzrost ludności. Uczęszczał do publicznej szkoły Glen Forest a później rozpoczął Uniwerytet na dziale księgowości. Odpowiadając na wezwanie Boga, zmienił kierunek studiów rozpoczynając Seminarium Św. Augustyna, wyświęcony w 1988 r. Służył u Św. Moniki w Toronto, służył jako kapelan dla głuchoniemych w Toronto, Św. Jana w Newmarket, Św. Maryii Gwiazdy Morza w Mississauga oraz Św. Teresa w Courtice. Prowadził pielgrzymki do Izraela, Fatimy, Lourdes i Rzymu. Jest rozradowany, że może być w Parafii Ducha Świętego w Barrie. Miła jest Jemu służba Sakramentalna z młodymi jak i starszymi. Módlmy się za naszego księdza Keith Wallace.

VISITING CLERGY
This weekend we welcome Father Peter Conlin who will be assisting at the 5:00 Mass while Father Keith is at a wedding. Father Peter will help at Holy Spirit Parish from time to time.

July 9 - We welcomed Fr. Jan Szkodziński OMI who is presiding at the 12:00 Mass. Father Jan is an Oblate Mary Immaculate. The Oblates have agreed to serve the 12:00 Polish Mass.

August 9 - III WALKING PILGRIMAGE from Barrie to Midland. Both Fr. Keith and Bishop Hundt joined the walkers on Wednesday 9th. We had 26 walkers from our Parish (2 English speaking and 24 Polish speaking).
Holy Spirit Parish, as for the last 10 year, prepares a supper for pilgrims. This years overnight stay at Laurie and Bill French farm.

- The walkers from Holy Spirit Parish and those who came to the 2:00 p.m. Mass with us
- The family of the Parish of Holy Spirit whose farm was used as the place of rest

- Parishioners that prepared and organized supper.

August 15-17 - BIBLE CAMP - thank you to the 29 children and 6 volunteer disciples who helped at the Summer Faith-Bible Camp. The children learn much of God as Creator, Shepherd and One who makes us strong. and we had a good time too!

November 1 - All Saint Day - we celebrated at St. John of Arc school chapel. Over 100 people show up for Mass. Fr. Keith prepared table with candles for All Souls Day.

November 2, - All Souls Day celebrated at St. Joan of Arc. We celebrated Mass in both languages and songs in Polish.

January 6th - 'Opłatek' Polish Holy Rosary @ ZPwK hall. with Fr. Jan Szkodziński and Deacon Dominic and Paulette Sasco. Program organized by Elizabeth Stolarz with Marcin Tota. Also other youth group were present: Mateusz Tabisz, Agnes, Catherine, Chris, Sebastian Grzywna, Mateusz Dąbrowski, Jakub Jawień. Fr. Jan blessed Mary's picture from Gietrzwałd (Poland) for peregrination.

January 7th - two new roses joined Polish Holy Rosary in prayers. We have 8 roses with 20 parishioners in each. We pray every day for the Apostolic Church, Local Church and all our sick and lonely and the other intentions of the church.
The Act of Consecration has been read by the new members of the Holy Rosary Society.

January 20 - at St. Joan of Arc at 7 p.m. we celebrated Christmas in Concert - "Marry Little Christmas" organized by Marek Mucha and his team. Thank you to all who supported the Night of Music: Andrew Wierus, Shannon Barks and her Group, Elizabeth Stolarz, St. Joan of Arc, St. Bernadette and St. Nicholas school. Thank you all who prepared the 'goodies'. Donation supported our Building Fund.

January 27 - Confirmation Retreat at St. Joan of Arc 11-3 p.m.

March 3 - Polish Holy Rosary - Passover Celebration with sining Psalms and meal.

March 24 - Youth presents 'Station of the Cross'. Thank you Pre-Teen Youth for the ' Station of the Cross' Thank you St. Bernadette's school. Thank you Knights of Columbus and ladies for meal. Thank you all who attended the Stations this special evening.

March 28 - Ukrainian Easter Eggs - The youth of our Parish created Coloured Waxed Eggs at the Rectory. These eggs were given to the Seniors at Roberta Place for Easter. Over 30 youth come forward. Thank you.

March 29 - Our First Seder Passover Meal at St. Joan of Arc school. Thank you to all who attended the Sacred Action of the Passover on Thursday. This is how Jesus Celebrated his Las Supper, our first Eucharist. A perfect preparation for Holy Thursday.

APRIL 2007
April 1 - bundle Clothing Drive - Lenten outreach in co-operation with St. Vincent De Paul of Toronto. Thank you to the person who anonymously donated the truck.

April 6 - Multi Languages Station of the Cross - The 'Hail Mary' in many languages of parishioners of Holy Spirit Parish - English, Polish, French, Slovack, Italian, Sign Language, Spanish. Tamil, Portuguese, German, Dutch etc.

April 15 - EASTER - I wish to thank all who took the time this Easter 2007 to truly live and express Faith. And yet it is not only in one season but ALL YEAR EVERY DAY thank you beautifully express this gift.
A special thanks to the parishioners including the youth who helped to decorate the church for Holy Week and Easter. It was beautiful! The decorations stayed all week so that the students on lunch could see again and again the reality of our Faith. An inspiration!
Thank you also to the parishioners who donated towards the flowers. I have been a priest for 19 years and never experienced such a Holy week Faith - Thank you. Father Keith.

April 28 - Święcone 2007 - started with songs of praise and prayers - Celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. We were honored to have Fr. Jan Szkodziński and Deacon Dominic and Paulette also Paulina Siwiec our Miss Polonia. We thank all families specialy: Cioncka, Grenc, Grzywna, Siwiec, Stolarz and Stoppa for the participating, prayer and witness to our Faith.

April 29 - Thank you all who supported our young parishioner Shaina Keating in attending a Youth Mission in summer by purchasing her hand made rosary bead bracelets this weekend.

May 5 - Family Dance and Potluck - SPRING FLING - what a great time! Hey - church can be fun! Everyone enjoyed the Holy Spirit Parish Potluck and Family Dance. Thank you to all our organizers.

May 6, 13, 20 - FIRST COMMUNION MASSES. Congratulations to Families - Schools - Parish - celebrating as one. Thank you to those who helped to decorate the church for this month's First Communion Masses. We appreciate your work!

July 7 @ 5 p.m. Mass - Installation of our Pastor. As of July 1, 2006 - Fr. Keith Wallace was appointed Administrator of Holy Spirit Parish. Archbishop Collins has now appointed him as Pastor effective June 27, 2007. Bishop Peter Hundt celebrated the Mass and installed our new Pastor. Polish Holy Rosary and Polish Liaison Committee, thank Bishop Hundt and Fr. Keith for his dedication. On behalf English speaking Parishioners Stephen Booth welcomed Fr. Keith Wallace as our Pastor. We are blessed by having Fr. Keith Wallace. May God shower's him with all blessings!

July 23 @ 7 p.m. Mass - and conference in Polish. Fr. Boguslaw Jaworowski celebrated the Mass and homily.

August 5 - Fr. Keith welcomed at all Masses Fr. Michael Pajak O.M.I. who will be helping to serve Parishioners on weekends.

August 8 - 15 member of the Holy Spirit Parish participate in IV Walking Pilgrimage from Barrie to Midland. Our parish prepared supper for 500 Pilgrims from Mississauga to Midland.

August 15 - Annual Mass at St. Mary's Cemetery with Fr. Frank, Fr. Keith, Fr. Charles, Fr. Michael and other priests. Section dedicated to Holy Spirit was blessed by all present priests.

September 9 - Committee Head BBQ at David's Doyle house. God gives us beautiful weather and we met new friend.

September 16 - Rosary Sunday in Midland. Holy Spirit Parishioners came for the Annual Liturgy and Procession organized by Catholic Women's League. Bishop Peter Hundt celebrated the Mass and lead prayers. Living Rosary was lead by different Rosary groups from different Parishes .

OCTOBER 2007
Continuation of meetings of all Parish Groups
October 5/6 - PRO-LIFE 24 HOURS ADORATION ended with Mass at 10 a.m. October 6th.
From January 2007 Iris Reddy is the coordinator of the Friday's All Day Adoration.

October 13 - was the final appearance of Mary in Fatima, Portugal - the day of the miracle of the sun, proving her appearance and the message from her Son of prayer, penance and sacrifice. Bilingual Mass at St. Joan of Arc.

October 14 - Sunday - The Parish has a stature (that was given to Fr. Keith) that will be circulated home to home each week. Home Statue of Our Lady of Fatima visited Stolarz family. The prayers are in the intention for Vocations to the Deaconate, Priesthood and Religious Nuns and sisters.

November 24 - Mississauga Gala - dinner and dance at St. Christopher church in Mississauga. Former parishioners of Fr. Keith from St. Mary Star of The Sea organized dinner and dance. All proceeds got to our Building Fund.

December 12 - First meeting C.W.L. is a national organization rooted in gospel values calling its member to holiness through services to the people of God.

January 5 - Polish Holy Rosay 'Oplatek' It was an evening of praise, worship and fellowship, started with blessing of waffle by Fr. Michael Pajak.. We were honour to have Deacon Dominic and his wife Paulette for our Annual Feast. We would like to thank all who participated and took part in singing and sharing.

January 19 - Merry Little Christmas po raz drugi przeżylismy wspólnie ze szkołami i Parafianami Boże Narodzenie w piesence. Wiele szkolnych chórów oraz solistów wzięło udział w koncercie, w którym goscilismy jak w zeszłym roku Andrzeja Wirus z grupą oraz Sylwie Michałowską, która uswietniła swoim głosem wieczór. W koncercie wystąpili również Grant Murphy z Shannon Barks, Mehgan Alvarado, Iwona Jaszczur. Dziękujemy Komitetowi Polskiemu za przygotowanie przyjemnego wieczoru jak zarówno poczęstunku przy kawie. Dochód przeznaczony na Fundusz Budowy Koscioła.

January 26 - Information Night on the New Church. Fr. Keith and the Building Committee has been hard at work and prayer in educating themselves about the church teachings on liturgy, church layouts, church construction, theology of church. They have visited many churches this past year and they would like to present to ALL PARISHIONERS some information and together to nurture the ideas of our new church building.

February 2 - St. Valentine Dinner Dance. Thank you to all who attended our recent Dinner Dance. the people of Holy Spirit ALWAYS have a good time! $8,500.00 was raised for the Building Fund, doubled by donor to $17, 000.00.

March 5 - 7-9:00 p.m. St. Mary's Lent Mission ' Healing and guiding Power of the Eucharist'

March 6 - 7 p.m. Annual Passover Dinner. Thank you all parishioner for joining us for the Passover. It is the great way to prepare for the Holy Week and Easter Season. It remind us about the tradition given by God to Jews as a way out of slavery and is given to us Christian as a way of slavery from sin.

March 21 - GOOD FRIDAY - Liturgy of the Good Friday and Adoration of the Cross with TAIZE prayers.
Station of the Cross with Youth Group. Thank you our youth for their presentation of the Station.

March 22 - Easer Vigil - Congratulation to our new Catholics that were preparing since November to receive Sacraments and be a part of the Catholic Church. We invite you to join our Parish Groups to grow in Faith in a daily live. We thank Bożena Siwiec for the beautiful Easter decorations.

April 26 - Parish Easter Retreat. - The Road to Emmaus. The theme is : To See Thee More Cleary. where is god in your ministry / family / daily life / persons we know / your spiritual life? Lead by Fr. Keith in the Rectory chapel.

April 28 - Catholic Education week. Archbishop Thomas Collins celebrated the Mass at St. Joan of Arc with teachers, students and Parishioners.

May 10 - Parish Flea Market. Thank you to all who supported the Parish Community Flea Market and Kid-to-Kid sales, all who donated, shopped, Fundraising Committee, K of C. CWL, Polish Rosary Society for overseeing the tables. $3116.50

may 10 - Pentecost Vigil - Taize Prayers from 9 p.m. till 11 p.m. with Fr. Keith's short reflection. About 20 Parishioners supported Parish with prayer and songs.

August 6 - V Walking Pilgrimage to Midland on 10th Anniversary of the Mission now Holy Spirit Parish- 22 participants.
On this day Holy Spirit Parish prepared supper for about 500 pilgrims (10th consecutive year)

May 2 - Annual Rosary Prayers at Essa Road. Thank you to our Parish Groups for taking a part in our Annual Rosary Prayers.
Pray the Rosary - at least one decade as a family daily. She and her Sion will change your family forever.
We start praying Rosary 15 minutes before each Mass for the intention of the NEW CHURCH.

May 9 - Flea Market at St. Joan of Arc Parking lot with Parish Organizations

June 13 - Youth Talent Show. Congratulation to: Emily Duffy, Alicia Mendes, Luke Fera.

June 14 - follow up presentation on the new church. An update as to the direction of the new church and the future Capital Campaign

June 14 - Corpus Christi Procession - after Traditional Procession, we did continue procession with Jesus to our new land.

June 19- On Friday June 19 Pope Benedict 16th proclaimed 2009 as the Year of the Priest. First Thursday Mass intention for Vocations with Reflections from St. John Vianney - Patron of Priests / Patron of the Year.

June 21 - Fundraising Parish Picnic at Polish Hall

June 22 - Fr. Zygmunt Ostrowski visited our Parish. We did celebrate 40th Priesthood Anniversary.

July 5 - We welcomed Fr. Mariush Runevich. Fr. Mariush was assign pastor of Our Lady of Grace in Angus on July 2, 2009. Included in his assigment from the Archbishop is ministry at the 12:00 Polish Mass.

August 12 - Annual Mass at St. Mary's Cemetery. Fr. Keith will be Presider.
August 12 - VI WALKING PILGRIMAGE from Barrie to Midland. Traditionally we are greeting walking pilgrims with supper.

August 22 - Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary. At 8:30 p.m. Marian Candlelit Procession on church property. Fr. Keith prepared prayers and reading for this special night. With songs on our lips we did process around our Holy Land for future church. 1 m. grass was not an issue for parishioners filled with fire of Love to Mary and Her Son Jesus Christ.

September 10 - Heads of Committee Meeting. Beginning of the year. All groups received yearly calendar with events during the school year.

September 15 - Parent-Tot Group Meetings resumes on Tuesday. Maria Malpica - our new Parent-Tot group coordinator gather in a chapel to sing and pray with our children.

September 19 - Annual Car Rally. This is a social - family fun that we have every year. Thank you Carmichael family for organizing this event. We had to follow the direction given to us and answer correctly many questions. LOTS of fun.

October 3 - Kick Off - Party DJ Dance for Youth Group. Please check our pictures.

October 4 - 11 - Life Week: Life Chain; Spiritual Adoption; Baby clothing collection; 24 hr Adoration for Life

October 13 - Mass with Fatima Night. After Mass we process inside the school with lighten candles sinning with thankful hearts.

October 31 - Rosary on Property with participation of all Parish Groups.
It is Parish's tradition to pray the Rosary on our land. Despite of the weather many parishioners come to pray. Thank you all.

January 21, 2010 - Mandatory Workshop for PARENTS of First Communion at the High School. Please bring your child’s completed Reconciliation Book. Sr Ursula from Toronto will lead the Workshop on Confession.

This year Fr Keith is leading each grade in a MINI RETREAT. This will consist of a teaching and talk; religious craft; and Class Mass.

Social with Bingo @ 6:30 Door prizes – Kitchen Colour T.V. / $ 50 Cert. Home Depot
Seven games of Bingo - based on a 50 / 50 breakdown of cash prizes per game–half of proceeds for Building Fund half to the winner each game.

February 6 - ST VALENTINE DINNER DANCE This is the major fundraising dinner for the new church.

SCHOOL SPAGETTI DINNERS Last year these were very successful. Families of First Communions and Confirmation assisted.
